Judgement Time
There were four canopic jars during ancient Egyptian times. Each canopic jar held different organs after being treated in the same way as the mummy and wrapped in linen. The lids of the jars were carved to represent four minor gods called the Sons of Horus. Imsety, the human-headed god, looked after the liver; Hapy, the ape-headed god, held the lungs; Duamutef, the jackal-headed god, held the stomach; and Qebehsenuef, the hawk-headed god, held the intestines.
