David Faris: dfaris@carroll.k12.ia.us

David Faris has a total of 30 years of language arts teaching experience in three different school systems. His career started in Redwood Falls, MN, continued with a decade in the Galva-Holstein School District, and is entering his 19th in Carroll. He has coached large group and individual speech, co-directed musicals and plays, advised newspapers, yearbooks, and news broadcasts. Classes have included freshman English, DMACC Speech, Journalism/Advanced Journalism, Drama, and sophomore Speech. He has also been an adjunct instructor for the Des Moines Area Community College. Mr. Faris has been selected for two National Endowment for the Humanities Seminars, and was a member of the Fulbright Memorial Fund Japan Exchange.

Vicki Gach BA in English UNI 1974; MA in English ISU 1980.
Ms. Gach joined the CHS faculty in 1993 after previously teaching at Spalding High School in Granville, St. Johnn High School in Independence, ISU in Ames, and Senior High in Fort Dodge. At CHS she teaches American Literature and Composition, World Literature and Composition, College Prep Literature, Creative Writing, and Yearbook. In her time at CHS she has coached large group and individual events speech, has served on the School Improvement Team, and worked with Adviser/Advisee activities through High Schools That Work.

Becky Boes BS ISU ‘99
Becky Boes joined the CHS staff in 2000. She previously taught at the Denison Boys & Girls Home. She currently teaches English 10 focusing on both composition and speech in a block format. She teaches her class one block a day with Kerri Eichorn, a resource teacher at Carroll High School.Becky is also the head large group speech coach and serves as the director of the Speech & Drama Club. For the past two years, she has worked extensively on the Building Improvement Team, the National Honor Society committee, and the negotiation team for the Carroll Education Association; she has also worked continuously on High Schools’ That Work goals. Two years ago, she became a teacher role model by being a Demonstration Classroom teacher.

Kim Klein B.A. UNI 1998. Mrs. Klein joined the Carroll High School staff in 1999. She teaches English 9, Literature To Film, and Contemporary Literature. This winter season she will start her eighth season as the coach of the Carroll High dance team (PAWS). This is Mrs. Klein’s second year on the Building Improvement Team and the National Honor Society committee. She has been very active with High Schools That Work by attending various national conferences and modeling the new information by becoming a Demonstration Classroom teacher to improve the level of instruction in her own classroom as well as the high school. Mrs. Klein is also an active member of the Carroll Education Association by serving as a member of the negotiation committee.
