Doug Sweeney has been teaching in Iowa public schools for the past 23 years.  He earned a BME from Simpson College in 1984.  Doug has been teaching vocal music in the Carroll Community School District in Carroll, Iowa since 1988.  In Carroll he serves as director of 7-12 vocal music with six performing ensembles, four concert choirs and two show choirs. Under the direction of Mr. Sweeney, the Carroll Ensembles have received 37 division I ratings at the IHSMA Large Group Contest and IHSMA Show Choir Contest. During his tenure at CHS 94 students have been accepted into the Iowa All-State Choirs. Doug began his teaching career in the Stuart-Menlo Community School District where he met his lovely wife Joan. Together they have three beautiful children, Erica, Sara and Laura. Mr. Sweeney additionally serves as the director of music at Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames, IA.   Professionally, Mr. Sweeney has conducted choral festivals in Northeast and Southwest Iowa and is often called upon as an adjudicator for various competitions.  He is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and the Iowa Choral Directors Association.
