Austria is an
interesting country that has a rough history and a productive history.
Way back in the day Austria was known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
After World War 1 their history changed. People started invading their
land and taking over. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven
were born in Austria along with the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger. These
and many other famous actors, actresses, and musicians were born here
or originated from Austria. The official name of the country is
Republic of Austria. It covers an area of land, 32,000 square miles.
Vienna is Austria's wonderful and beautiful capital. The population in
Vienna is approximately 1.6 million people. Other important cities in
Austria are Salzburg and Innsbruck. The Alps just happen to slide
throughout the country. The climate in the summer and especially in the
mountains is gorgeous. In the winter the have rain and snowfall making
it look like a big white lumpy blanket. The people whom live in Austria
call themselves Austrians. The countries total population would be just
a little over 8 million people. The ethnicity of Austrians is 98
percent German with a mix of neighboring country natives mixed with it.
The most widely spoken language would be German. Most of the people
follow Roman Catholic and 12 percent choose not to have a religion at
all. The countries literacy rate is approximately 98 percent. Life
expectancy for a women is 81.7 years, which is significantly higher
than the 75.9 life expectancy of a male.
