In Japan they listen to Rock pop and yes folk. I am certain that they listen to different variety then just those three. They also have very traditional music. They have instruments such as the Shakuhachi or a wooden flute, The Koto or a 13 string steel guitar with no steel, The coolest instrument out of them all is called the wooden fish or a drum with one opening to let the sound out, and finally but certainly not least my most favorite of all the shamisen or a 3 string guitar.
