Correct placement of fingers and using the correct finger to the correct key without looking at the keyboard is still the main goal. We start to develop their speed. A speed goal of 15 words per minute or 5 wpm improvement from the prior year is used. This years 5th grade averaged 18 wpm. An increased emphasis is placed on using Word Processing to improve keyboarding skill.

6th Grade- The students continue to develop their speed using the correct keyboarding and body basics. A goal of 20 wpm or 5 wpm improvement is used. The 6th grade averaged 27 wpm this year. Word processing is used extensively to improve keyboarding skill.
