Their students will develop their writing skills creating a newsletter.

-Create a newsletter as a group.
-Talk about topic and detail sentences.
-Import one picture for each story from clip art. This will add writing novelty.
-When students are finished with group project, they will create their own newsletter.
-Students will spell check and proof read each story.

Students will assess their own work. Teacher will ask questions to help students in process.

The end product is a newsletter with a header, 3 stories, and 3 pictures.

The main novelty for the students will be that they can place pictures with their stories. This adds enjoyment and incentive for the students to create stories.

The students choose the subject for their newsletter. This will help to engage them in the activity. They will pick which pictures will go with each story.

The project will be real to the student because of the real world application of newsletters.
