Day 4 - Barcelona
Breakfast as usual. Boring

Our morning bus tour included a local guide provided by the city chamber of commerce. A quick stop in Guell Park which contains buildings designed by Guell and Gaudi. The La Pedrera (The Quarry) designed by Gaudi in 1905 has a "all natural" design. From Guell Park it was on to the Sagrada Familia. It became obvious that the local quide was promoting shopping because she gave us 15 minutes to tour the Sagrada Familia, or Church of the Family and 30 minutes to shop (she lead us to a particular gift shop also). Then back on the bus and off again.

The bus tour took us to Montjuic, one of the two mountains that surround Barcelona. The area is noted for the Oplympic Stadium and Spanish town. But first, we stopped to view and take photos of the city and harbor but if you're stuck behind all the kids, this is what you see..(Bunns over Barcelona). Then quickly past the Olympic swimming and diving stadium, Olympic Touch, and the stadium. No stops here, but we did get to stop at a reconstructed village (Fundacio Miro) or (Poble Espanyol). Consturcted in 1929 for the Universal Exhibition, the "Town" is a synthesis of Spanish archiecture. Here we could "experience" the different areas of Spain and, of course, shop. We did find the glassblowing shop interesting however. Glassblower #2

Lunch was at the famous "Hard Rock" cafe near the city center. Burgers and fries - very Spanish!

The afternoon found some of the group shopping, some wandering the Rombla watching the mimes, some on a 1/2 hour boat tour of the harbour and the rest on a 1 1/2 hour tour onto the Mediterranean. Our group did the short boat tour and then power-walked over to the beach to collect sand. I collected a blister and Jon collected a few memoriable photos. I think they were about my age - right Jon ; )

That evening, some of the group opted for an extra excursion - a Flamingo Dance. They returned around midnight.
