1-28-10

The A team completed their season with an easy win over Boone 57-24. A well-balanced scoring attack with Casey Gehling and Nate O'Brien chipping in 10 points, Anthony Beyerink added 9 points, Cody Netusil 8 points, Kacy Snyder and Cody Davis each had 6 points, Ben Norgaard 5 points and Colton Thompson with 3 points. Carroll finished the season with a record of 7-3.

The B-team ended their season with a win over Boone 34-27. Grant Magill led the Tigers with 14 points with Sean Pudenz, Trent Lux and Ryan Klocke adding 6 each. Lux and Klocke grabbed team highs of 4 rebounds with Pudenz leading with 4 steals.

"With a long lay-off I was afraid we'd come out slow but we jumped out early. Their pressure started getting to us but they battled through it," said Coach Simmelink.

The C-team also won 47-28. The Tigers were lead in scoring with Sean Anderson with 13 points, Levi Wittrock with 12 and Josh Lepird with 10. Anderson also pulled down 6 rebounds with Alex Clinton had 4. Anderson had 9 steals and Lepird had 8.

"The C-guys came out really ready to play. Boone pressed the entire game but we broke it and scored off it. I was extremely pleased with the way the season ended," praised Coach Simmelink.

1-18-10

The A team traveled across town to take on Kuemper and played an outstanding game, but came up just short losing 33-36. I was extremely proud of your effort. It is too bad that it wasn't rewarded by a few things not going our way! Cody Netusil led the Tigers in scoring with 16 points and 7 rebounds, Nate O'brien chipped in 7 points and Cody Davis 4 points. Carroll is now 6-3 with their next game at Atlantic on Thursday.

The B-team took on Kuemper and lost 23-34. Trent Lux led the Tigers in scoring with 6 points with Sean Pudenz adding 5. Grant Magill grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds while Lux pulled down 4. Pudenz also had 2 steals.

"We hung in most of the game and even were up several times. However, we were outscored 6-12 in the 4th quarter," said Coach Simmelink. "We also missed 9 free throws which hurt."

The C-team also lost, 14-16, on a last second shot in overtime. Levi Wittrock had 6 points with Sean Anderson, Alex Clinton, Tristin Riesberg and Cameron Moore all added 2. Anderson grabbed 3 rebounds and had 3 steals. Clinton also had 3 steals.

"The C-team handled the Knight's press pretty well. We had our chances late in the game but Kuemper came out on top," said Coach Simmelink.

1-11-10

The A team hosted Jefferson Monday after another long break and came away with a victory 51-23. Cody Netusil led the Tigers with 14 points, 5 steals and 8 rebounds, Casey Gehling added 12 points and 9 rebounds, Nate O'Brien had 12 points and 4 steals and Anthony Beyerink had 5 points and 6 steals. Carroll is now 6-2 with their next game against Kuemper.

The B-team beat the Rams 26-12. Ryan Klocke led the Tigers with 8 points with Sean Pudenz, Colton Brown and Trent Lux adding 4 point each. Lux grabbed a team high 8 rebounds with Grant Magill adding 7. Pudenz had 3 steals while Alex Clinton, Lux and Alex Stenbo each had 2.

"After another long lay-off, the boys were ready to play. We were still rusty but kept working hard," said Coach Simmelink.

1-4-10

The A-team opened the new year with a tough fought loss to Harlan 20-27. Casey Gehling led the way with 9 points and 6 rebounds, Cody Davis chipped in 7 points. It took awhile to get back to playing our game. The second half was the best we have played in awhile. Keep working hard to improve and work together as a team.

The B-team avenged an earlier lose to Harlan by beating them 16-12. Grant Magill led the Tigers with 6 points and 6 rebounds. Sean Pudenz added 4 points with Tanner Douma, Trent Lux and Alex Stenbo each scored 2.

"After the long lay off, the B-team came out strong and jumped to an early lead. We let them creep back in but were able to hold them off in the end," said Coach Ryan Simmelink.

12-21-09

The A team hosted their crosstown rival Kuemper on Monday and lost their first game of the year 19-30. Cody Netusil led the Tigers with 7 points and 8 rebounds, Casey Gehling chipped in 6 points, and Anthony Beyerink pulled down 5 rebounds. Their next game is at Harlan on Jan. 4th.

The B-team took on the Kuemper Knights and won 26-14. Sean Pudenz led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points. Ryan Klocke scored 5, Grant Magill with 3 and Trent Lux, Alex Clinton and Tanner Douma each had 2 points. Magill and Lux each grabbed 8 rebounds with Pudenz getting 7 steals.

The C-team also won a close game 14-12. Levi Wittrock, Cameron Moore and Colton Brown each had 4 points with Alex Clinton adding 2. Brown led the team with 4 rebounds.

"Both teams played really well. They came out and played with intensity," praised Coach Simmelink. "They are continuing to improve with each game they play."

12-10-09

The A team hosted Denison Thursday and defeated the Monarchs 58-23. Cody Netusil led the Tigers with 17 points. Casey Gehling added 12 points and 5 rebounds, Nate O'Brien contributed 12 points and 5 steals while Colton Thompson had 6 points and 4 rebounds. It was another nice defensive effort. The A team is now 5-0 with a rematch against Harlan coming up on Monday.

The Carroll 8th Grade B-team beat Denison 25-11. Sean Pudenz lead the scoring with 11 points while Alex Stenbo, Ryan Klocke and Tanner Douma each added 4. Stenbo and Trent Lux grabbed 6 rebounds with Douma and Alex Clinton pulling down 5. Grant Magill added 2 steals.

"We started off slow after a couple days off from school; only scoring 5 points in the first half. The second half we played much better and outscored the Monarchs 20-4," commented Coach Ryan Simmelink.

The C-team also won their game 27-6. Sean Anderson scored 8 points with Levi Wittrock adding 5. Lux and Colton Brown threw in 4 each and Cameron Moore and Tristen Riesberg rounded out the scoring with 3 each. Lux grabbed a game high 7 rebounds with Anderson and Wittrock grabbing 5.

"The C-team really pushed the ball hard up the floor and got great shots. They played very hard with limited rest time," said Simmelink. "Each game they continue to get better."

The B-team improved their record to 4-1 while the C-team improved to 3-0.

12-7-09

The "A" team traveled to Jefferson Monday night and won 65-21. Nate O'Brien led another well-balanced attack with 15 points and 8 steals, Kacy Snyder and Cody Davis chipped in 10 points, Anthony Beyerink added 9 points and 4 assists, Cody Netusil scored 8 points, Jon Dvorak had 5 points and 5 assists, Ben Norgaard with 6 points and Trent Lux pulled down 6 rebounds. Carroll is now 4-0 with their next game on Thursday against Denison.

The Tiger B-team traveled to Jefferson and won 41-19. 9 Tiger players scored with Grant Magill leading with 11. Colton Brown added 7 with Trent Lux and Ryan Klocke both scoring 6. Brown, Klocke, Magill and Cameron Moore each grabbed 3 rebounds. Brown added 4 steals, Klocke had 3 and Sean Pudenz and Adam Clinton had 2 each.

"We finally played well all 4 quarters and are getting better with each game we play," praised Coach Simmelink. "They distributed the ball well and got everyone involved."

12-4-09

The A team won their third straight game with a solid victory over a talented DC-G team 52-34. A well balanced attack for the Tigers with Casey Gehling having 13 points and 9 rebounds, Anthony Beyerink 12 points, 5 steals and 4 assists, Cody Netusil 7 points and 9 rebounds, Nate O'Brien 6 points and 5 assists, and Kacy Snyder 6 points. A strong 3rd quarter put the game away. Continue that kind of effort for 4 quarters! Carroll is now 3-0 with their next game Monday at Jefferson.

The B-team hosted Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday and won 32-28. Grant Magill and Tanner Douma led the Tigers in scoring with 8 apiece with Alex Clinton adding 6. Magill pulled down 9 rebounds while Ryan Klocke grabbed 8 and Trent Lux and Alex Stenbo had 6 each. Sean Pudenz led the team with 3 steals.

"We came out right away and jumped out to an early lead. However, the 3rd quarter still seems to be our let-down quarter and fell behind," said Coach Simmelink. "They responded extremely well in the 4th quarter and outscored DC-G 14-5 to secure the win."

The C-team also won 34-11. Levi Wittrock led the C-team with 8 points with Sean Anderson and Josh Lepird scoring 6 each. Cameron Moore, Tristen Reisberg and Colton Brown each had 4 with Lux rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Reisberg led the team with 11 rebounds with Wittrock adding 9 and Brown and Lux each had 5. Anderson and Brown each had 4 steals.

"The C-team played great. They handled the press very well and held them to 2 first half points," praised Simmelink. "They never let up despite the lead and continued to play hard."

11-30-09

The Carroll 8th grade boys A team won their home opener against Harlan 34-32. Anthony Beyerink hit a free throw at the end to seal the victory. Casey Gehling led the Tigers with 19 points while Cody Netusil chipped in 8 points with 4 assists. Nate O'brien dished out 6 assists and the rest of the team contributed on the defensive end. Carroll is now 2-0 with their next game on Friday against DC-G at CMS.

The B-team lost a close one 8-9 against Harlan. Ryan Klocke led the Tigers with 6 points with Grant Magill adding 2. Alex Stenbo and Magill each pulled down 2 rebounds with Trent Lux and Klocke adding 1. Sean Pudenz and Tanner Douma had 2 steals each.

"We started off slow but came back late. We had the play we wanted but came up a tenth of a second short," said Coach Simmelink. "I was impressed how the boys came out of the timeout and executed the play we needed."

11-24-09

The Carroll 8th grade boys opened the season with 3 wins at Denison Tuesday night. The "A" team won 47-24 in a good balanced start to the season. Casey Gehling led the Tigers with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Cody Davis chipped in 12 points, Anthony Beyerink added 10 points and 4 steals, and Kacy Snyder had 8 points. Cody Netusil had 4 assists while Nate O'Brien and Jon Dvorak played great defense. Next game is on Monday at home against Harlan. It was a nice start to the season, but we still have a lot of room to grow. Keep pushing yourself to play at a high level at all times.

The Tigers B team won a close game against Denison 21-17. Ryan Klocke led the Tigers with 7 points with Tanner Douma adding 4. Klocke also led the team with 7 rebounds while Grant Magill grabbed 6 and Alex Clinto pulled down 4. Sean Pudenz added 5 steals and Colton Brown added 3.

"It was great to come out and win our first game," said Coach Ryan Simmelink. "We struggled at times but that is expected in our first game. The boys kept playing hard and it paid off."

The C team also won 18-10. Levi Wittrock led in scoring with 6 points with Trent Lux and Cameron Moore both scoring 4. Lux grabbed 16 rebounds while Josh Lepird added 5 steals.

"The C guys really worked hard. They forced several turnovers and really rebounded well," commented Simmelink.
