1-29-2009

The A team hosted Boone and improved on their previous meeting, but still came up short 40-47. It was a well played game by all. Everyone put forth their best effort and should be proud of the improvement they have made throughout the year. Keith Wiederien had a great game leading the scoring with 17 points while Luke Vonnahme and Jarrett White each chipped in 6 points and Mark Nielsen added 4 points. Kelbi Kelso, Shawn Clausen and Brett Nees had 2 points and Chris Pudenz had 1 point. Carroll finished the season with a 3-9 record. Continue giving your maximum effort and don't be satisfied with being where you are at and good luck

The B-team lost their final game of the year 17-41. Brandon Riesberg led the Tigers with 6 points with Blaise Hass adding 3. Austin Tiefenthaler grabbed 3 rebounds while Hass had 6 steals and Riesberg with 4.

"We started off very well and were leading going into the 2nd quarter. We came out sluggish in the second half and never recovered," commented Coach Simmelink.

The C-team won their final game 10-9. Sam Wilkie scored 4, Harrison Grote, Indy Lo and Same Wallace all added 2. Grote had 3 steals while Lo had 2.

"The C-team played very well. They played good defense and passed the ball around. It was a great way to end the season," praised Simmelink.

1-23-2009

Luke Vonnahme hit the winning shot with 10 seconds left to give the A-team a 34-33 win over Jefferson. It was a great team game. Everyone contributed to the victory. Excellent ball movement and transition defense. Keith Wiederien led the scoring with 9 points, Luke Vonnahme and Shawn Clausen each added 8 points and Mark Nielsen chipped in 4 points. Carroll is now 3-8 with their last game on Thursday against Boone at CMS.

The B-team finally got into the win column with a 31-21 victory over Jefferson-Scranton. Leading the Tigers was Jordan White with 10 points with Blaise Hass scoring 8, Brandon Reisberg had 5 and Austin Tiefenthaler and Harrison Grote had 4 each. Grote also led with 4 rebounds while White and Reisberg grabbed 2 each. Hass had an amazing 7 steals while Alex Johnston and White each had 3 each.

"We finally played a full 4 quarters of good basketball and came out on top. The boys played extremely hard and I'm really proud of them," praised Coach Simmelink. "The team deserved this win. Hopefully, we can get another one against Boone on Thursday."

1-22-2009

The A-team traveled to Atlantic and lost 23-48. Shawn Clausen led the way with 6 points, Luke Vonnahme chipped in 5 points and Kelbi Kelso and Jarrett White added 4 points. Carroll is now 2-8 with their next game Friday against Jefferson.

The B-team came up short at Atlantic 25-32. Blaise Hass, Austin Tiefenthaler and Jordan White led the Tigers with 5 points each. Brandon Riesberg added 4 with Sam Wilkie and Indy Lo scored 2. Ross Reicks and Justin Daisy each had a point. White grabbed a team high 6 rebounds with Alex Paulsen and Riesberg adding 3. Hass had 4 steals.

"We only scored 6 points in the first half and dug ourselves in a hole. In the second half, we played much better and outscored Atlantic by 7. We just need to play well for a whole 4 quarters," said Coach Simmelink.

1-20-2009

The A-team ventured into the lovely Scranton gym and played a great game to defeat Jefferson 35-30. It was another team game were everyone had a hand in the victory. Good defense and a nice job handling their press were the keys along with excellect free throw shooting. Brett Nees made 2 big buckets in the 3rd quarter while Keith Wiederien and Jarrett White made free throws down the stretch to preserve the victory. Keith led the scoring with 11 points, Jarrett White and Luke Vonnahme had 5 points, Chris Pudenz and Brett Nees each had 4 points, and Mark Nielsen, Kelbi Kelso and Shawn Clausen each made a bucket. Carroll is now 2-7 with their next game at Atlantic on Thursday.

The B-team lost a close game with Jefferson-Scranton 25-26. Leading the Tigers in scoring was Blaise Hass with 9 points with Alex Johnston scoring 8 and Brandon Riesberg with 6. Jordan White pulled down 7 rebounds while Hass grabbed 6. Hass also lead in steals with 7 while Johnston had 3.

"We had plenty of opportunities to pull away but we missed several lay-ups and free throws," commented Coach Simmelink.

1-19-2009

The A-team played a great game against Kuemper but came up short 33-37. Everyone contributed in a positive manner tonight and it was a excellent step in the right direction. Luke Vonnahme led the scoring with 9 points and 5 steals, Jarrett White added 8 points, Shawn Clausen had 6 points, Chris Pudenz scored 5 points and Keith Weiderien had 4 points and 4 rebounds. Carroll is now 1-7 with their next game tonight against Jefferson.

The B-team Tigers took on cross-town rival Kuemper and lost 23-51. Blaise Hass led the scoring with 8 points while Ross Reicks and Jordan White added 4 each. Brandon Reisberg grabbed a team high 5 rebounds with Hass and Reicks each had 2 steals.

The C-team also lost 1-22. Sam Wilkie scored the lone Tiger point. Alex Paulsen had 3 rebounds with Indy Lo adding 2. Lo, Reicks, Cole Sorenson and Wilkie each had a steal.

1-8-2009

The A team traveled to Boone and ran into a tough Boone team and came away with a 26-50 loss. Mark Nielsen and Jarrett White chipped in 6 points, Luke Vonnahme and Keith Wederien had 4 points each. Carroll is now 1-6 with their next game Monday against Jefferson.

The B-team came up short against Boone 25-28. Leading the Tigers in scoring was Blaise Hass with 12 points with Brandon Riesberg adding 10. Jordan White added 2 with Austin Tiefenthaler rounding out the scoring with 1 point. Riesberg, Hass and Tiefenthaler led the team in steals with 2 each. Tiefenthaler grabbed a team high 4 rebounds.

The C-team also came up short 21-30. Sam Wilkie scored 8 points, Alex Johnston scored 4 and Sam Wallace added 3. Harrison Grote, Indy Lo and Cole Sorenson each added 2 points. Grote grabbed 4 rebounds and Alex Paulsen added 2.

1-5-2009

The "A" team opened the new year with a tough loss against crosstown rival Kuemper, 22-48. Other than a bad 3rd quarter it was a well played game. Keith Weiderien led the Tigers with 9 points and Shawn Clausen added 6 points and Jarrett White returned to the lineup with 4 points. Next game is Thursday at Boone. The "A" team is now 1-5. We still need to improve on the mental part of the game and making good decisions with the ball.

The Carroll B-team hosted cross-town rival Kuemper and lost 15-40. Leading the Tigers in scoring was Austin Tiefenthaler with 6 points while Ross Reicks scored 4 and Blaise Hass added 3. Tiefenthaler grabbed 3 rebounds with Alex Johnston and Reicks with 2 apiece. Hass led the Tigers with 5 steals with Johnston adding 3.

The C-team also came up short 10-30. Sam Wilkie led the scoring with 6 points while Harrison Grote and Indy Lo both round out the scoring with 2 each. Justin Daisy and Grote grabbed 2 rebounds each while Alex Johnston and Wilkie each had 2 steals.

12-15-2008

The "A" team traveled to Harlan in below zero weather and improved on their last game but still lost 28-41. Keith Weiderien was unstopable inside with 18 points and 4 rebounds. Shawn Clausen added 4 points, Luke Vonnahme chipped in 3 points, while Chris Pudenz pulled down 5 rebounds. Carroll is now 1-4 with their next game against Kuemper to start the new year. Keep improving your mental approach to the game. Play to your strengths and bring intensity at all times.

The B-team took on the Cyclones and lost 9-44. Leading the Tigers in scoring were Jordan White and Austin Tiefenthaler with 4 points each with Sam Wallace rounding it off with 1 point. Cole Sorenson grabbed 4 rebounds with Bradon Riesberg and Blaise Hass each had 3. Hass also lead the team in steals with 6.

12-11-2008

The "A" team had a tough loss in overtime to Denison 39-41. Luke Vonnahme led the way with 13 points, 7 steals and 12 rebounds. Keith Weiderien added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Chris Pudenz and Kelbi Kelso both chipped in 6 points and Mark Nielsen pulled down 5 rebounds. Carroll is now 1-3 with their next game on Monday at Harlan.

It was an up and down contest, with a nice comeback in the second half. We can fix the things we did wrong and continue to improve on our strengths. Proud of your play, but not satisfied with losing a game that we could have won.

The B-team took on the Monarchs and came up short 19-22. Leading the Tigers in scoring was Blaise Hass with 11 points while Brandon Riesberg added 4. Ross Reicks and Jordan White rounded out the scoring with 2 apiece. White and Riesberg also lead in rebounds with 4 each. Cole Sorenson added 3 steals with Alex Johnston stole 2.

"We got off to a really slow start not scoring at all in the 1st quarter. We took good shots but nothing was falling. The boys played a lot better the last 3 quarters but were already too far in the hole to make up," commented Coach Simmelink. "We've improved a great deal from the first time we've played them and continue to get better with each passing game."

12-5-2008

The "A" team got their first win of the season against DC-G on a last second shot by Keith Weiderien to put the Tigers ahead 34-32. Keith led the team in scoring with 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Luke Vonnahme added 8 points, 4 steals and 5 assists; Chris Pudenz tossed in 6 points with 6 rebounds. This was another step in the right direction. Keep pushing yourself and take pride in what you do at all times. Carroll is now 1-2 with their next game Monday at Jefferson.

The Tigers B-team took on the Mustangs and came up short in overtime 23-25. Blaise Hass led the Tigers in scoring with 11 points with Jordan White scoring 6 and Brett Nees added 4. Austin Tiefenthaler grabbed 5 rebounds, Hass pulled down 3 with Cole Sorenson and White each with 2. Nees lead Carroll with 3 steals.

"The B-team played the best they have this year; a huge improvement from the first two games. We fell behind after leading most of the game but came back to send it into overtime. If we continue playing this way, we'll get into the win column several times," praised Coach Simmelink.

The C-team played a Mustang team with A, B and C players came away with a loss - 16-51. Harrison Grote lead the team with 6 points while Sam Wallace and Alex Johnston added 4 each. Grote again led the Tigers with 5 rebounds with Indy Lo and Alex Paulsen grabbing 4 each. Ross Reicks also had 3 steals.

12-1-2008

The "A" team lost their home opener on Monday to Harlan 26-50. It was a hard fought game that got out of reach in the 4th quarter. Luke Vonnahme led the team with 9 points, 5 steals and 5 assists. Shawn Clausen chipped in 6 points and Keith Wiederien added 5 points and 7 rebounds while Christopher Pudenz scored 4 points with 4 rebounds. Carroll is now 0-2 with their next game on Friday against DC-G at CMS.

The "B" team played their second game of the year and lost 10-40. Sam Wilkie and Austin Tiefenthaler led the Tigers in scoring with 4 apiece with Jordan White adding 2. Cole Sorenson grabbed 5 rebounds while White and Tiefenthaler pulled down 4 each. White also had 4 steals.

"We played hard the first half but got careless the second half and Harlan pulled away. Its still early in the season and have plenty room to grow," commented Coach Simmelink.

11-25-2008

The Carroll "A" team opened the season with a hard fought loss at Denison 32-42. Luke Vonnahme led the scoring with 10 points and 4 assists, Keith Wiederin chipped in 9 points with 5 rebounds, Christopher Pudenz and Mark Nielsen added 4 points. The next game is on Monday against Harlan at CMS. It was a good start to the season, let's keep striving to improve, don't settle for staying the same.

The Carroll "B" opened the season with a 13-36 loss. Alex Johnston led the scoring with 4 points, Austin Tiefenthaler added 3 points and 4 rebounds. Indy Lo, Cole Sorenson, and Sam Wallace each had 2 points.
