- Family of Fred, Fredericka, Augusta, Ernest, and
Frederick came to the United States in 1869. They left
Hamburg, Germany on March 31, 1869 on the Allemenia and
arrived in New York on April 17, 1869. They were
accompanied by Fredericka's mother Marie Schimdt and
Johann Borck.
- Fred and Fredericka (Schmidt) were married in Klein
Below on Sept. 24, 1863.
- Augusta was born in Klein Below, Ernest and Frederick
were born in Neu Ploetz.
- They were living in Neu Ploetz, Pommern before they
left for the United States.
- Upon reaching the United States they settled in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois for 1 year and then moved to Clinton, Iowa in 1871. They moved to Sumner, Iowa in 1884.
- Fred had 2 brothers, Henry and John Duerkop, and 2 sisters, Louise Borgwardt and Maria Krueger, who I have recently discovered in the Alma, Wisconsin area. 2 other sisters, Sophia Kater and Caroline are known but have not been found. These relatives were unknown to Fred's family!
