Calculus Project - Spring 2008

 

 

Goal:  Create games, songs, skits, short stories or some other type of hands on activity for learning calculus concepts or for a chapter review.

 

 

Presentation:

·         Topic must be approved by Mr. Duhrkopf, repeats may be allowed

·         Must be presented to the class as if you were actually doing the lesson

·         Must last at least 15 minutes, expectation is that the activity is to fill up 1 class period

·         A drawing will be held each day for the 2 groups that will present the following day (1st yes, 2nd on deck)

·         1st day presentations will earn 3 bonus points

·         Each presentation will be reviewed by your peers using the evaluation criteria developed by the class

·         You will be graded on creativity, effectiveness of the lesson and whether it is meaningful

·         Each member must be involved in the delivering of the lesson. The rest of the class will participate.

 

 

Timeline:

 

April 23rd – Introduction to the project, group assignments, grading criteria

April 24th and 25th – Choose your topic. Get approval from Mr. Duhrkopf

April 28th to May 1st – Work on the project

May 2nd – Presentations begin. 1 or 2 per day until finished

 

 

 

Grading:

·         Each individual will fill out a peer evaluation on each group

·         Mr. Duhrkopf will grade each group only

 

Project             = 100 points (Test)

Peer Review    = 2 points/review (Test)
