6th Music
Carroll Middle School

Welcome to 6th grade General Music!!

This year will be different from your previous music classes.  Our music classes will include singing, but also, movement, theory, history and written class work.  Each class and activity we do will be assessed with points given for successfully accomplishing each task.

For this class each student will need to provide a folder and pencil.
Make sure to put your name and class on your pencil and folder.

Rules for this class will be the guidelines for success as outlined in your agenda, but also specifically,  you will be graded on your participation, reading, cooperative learning activities, singing, movement, written work, testing, cooperation and the music program in the spring.

I am looking forward to this year and having a lot of exciting and new learning experiences

On March 16th,  the 6th grade will be having their music concert for the year.  This will be a culmination of all the work we have done to this point.   I would like to look at this as a    “Final” examination of what we have learned.    So we are all on the same page, I need you to know that attendance is required at this performance.  If your child should happen to be absent from this performance, he/she will need to do something to make up their grade.   They will have 2 options if they miss for whatever reason.

They may see me to set up a time to come in and sing their concert music for me.

OR

They will need to write a one page paper about one of the composers which we have talked about this year.
This will be a one page,
typed paper,  Geneva Font 12
double spaced.

The paper will need to be written about composer Irving Berlin.

Please note the Student Handbook policy,  “Students must be in attendance a minimum of 1/2 day of school to participate in the concert.”

If your student is absent during the day they will still be required to fulfill the requirements for this class.
