PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical Education  (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)

Semester Course - 1 Credit

Students are required to take one semester of Physical Education each school year.  All classes are co-educational.  Various sports and activities are offered.  Class meets Monday through Friday.

Elective Physical Education (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)

Semester Course – 1 Credit

Students may elect to sign-up for a second semester of Physical Education.  Students will be enrolled in Physical Education if class size permits.  Class meets Monday through Friday.

Special & Adaptive Physical Education  (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)

Semester Course - 1 Credit

In this class, diseases and illnesses that incapacitate students are explored.  Students will work with students that are physically and mentally challenged.

Sports in Society  (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)

Semester Course - 1 Credit

 (5 days per week)

This course will study various sports and recreations in our world.  The history, rules, and strategy of many different games will be explored.  Students will use both the classroom and activity area for this class.  Class meets Monday through Friday.

Personal Fitness (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)

Semester Course - 1 Credit

This class will meet Monday through Friday for the entire second semester.  The class will emphasize the five areas of physical fitness (muscle endurance, flexibility, muscle strength, body composition, and aerobic activities).  Nutrition will also be explored.  A personal trainer from the hospital will be giving a pre-fitness test and the data collected will be used to set up an individualized fitness program.  Throughout the semester, the individual program will be used.  At the end of the semester, a post-fitness test will be given and students will receive a record of their achievement.  Class is limited to thirty students
